BERLIN - The shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin kicked off this week in a new location: at the feet of the Berliner Siegessäule (the Victory Column with the golden angel)  in the middle of Tiergarten park. The event will present more than 50 fashion collections, this not to mention several other trade fairs that are happening in parallel until Saturday (07.07). All the events together and their 250.000 visitors will spend at least 120 million Euros in the city, according to numbers from the last season published by the Senate of Berlin.

In this context it is interesting to notice that the majority of the catwalk shows presented are from new and young designers. There is a lot of room for creativity as much as there is space for more casual and relaxed fashion. The menswear collections of day one, for example, took a personal approach to fashion, sometimes being far from the trends seen in other cities.
